Who We Are

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to grow deep as Christ followers and to grow wide in our intentional pursuit to reach others both locally and globally.

Getting to know us…

In September of 2015, the Lord orchestrated the gathering of a small group of like-minded believers whose desire was simple, yet unified: to get back to the heart of worship. When you strip down the modern day church taking away its buildings, its programs and all the busyness that can overshadow worship itself, you find that what you are left with is the original movement that was the early church and should be the church of today. Attending church should be enjoyable but challenging, while stimulating the desire for growth, and not simply a ritual of religious activity. At The Gathering, we want to do more than meet; we want to move! We want to be characterized by our deep roots AND our wide reaches while being theologically sound and culturally relevant.

As a “new” church, we have been enjoying the raw worship that has come from leaving everything in the hands of the Lord, from a building to meet in each week to where we go and how we grow from here. At The Gathering, you will hear Bible-based teaching from God’s unchanging Word that you can directly apply to your life every day.  You will also find a growing Children’s and Student ministry, a passion for Missions locally and globally, and fun-loving yet caring people who experience and wrestle with the same struggles in life as you. We aren’t perfect. We are a church for real people with real frustrations, real problems and real pain.  But we are also a church that can offer you real hope. We want to be authentic. We want to provide an environment that is safe, supportive and nurturing and be a church where our unchurched friends, family AND the local community want to come and hear the life-changing truth that God cares for them and that Jesus Christ died for their sins.

We are only a few steps into our journey as The Gathering, but our prayer is that you will feel at home here. We welcome you to join us and see where the Lord leads us and be a part of what we are able to accomplish for Him. We don’t know what tomorrow holds, but we do know Who holds tomorrow. Christ is always at work. Here, the scattered become the gathered!

Our Core Values

Biblically Based

We look to God’s word/the Scriptures as the authority by which we live and operate. We share the unchanging message of truth to an ever changing culture.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Unity

Be Biblical peacemakers: glorify God, get the log out of our own eyes, gently restore, go and be reconciled.
Romans 12:18 “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

Grace

Recognizing and confessing our common struggle with sin and our mutual need for God’s mercy and grace; we receive it and extend it to all people.
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.

Joy

Everything about our expressions of worship should be a celebration of who God is. Laugh hard, loud and often; nothing is more fun than serving God with people you love.
John 15:11 “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”

Outreach

Be the hands and feet of Christ by extending friendship and using our God given talents and resources to serve local and abroad. We are spiritual contributors, not consumers. The church does not exist for us; we exist for the world.
Mark 16:15 “He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

Faith/Hope/Love

Love is the virtue upon which all of our faith and hope now stand.
1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Culture of Discipleship

We believe Jesus’ model is to build disciples. This involves a daily process of laying down our lives to follow Jesus. No one accidentally creates disciples. Discipleship is an intentional pursuit.
Philippians 4:9 “Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”

All In

Be committed and devoted by turning every part of our life over to Him. Be a group of people who place all that we have into God’s hands. We encourage and support one another and are a part of a team.
Matthew 22:37 “Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
